What’s the time Mr. Wolf?

I only play this game at the end of the lesson. It is so popular that, not to end up playing it every lesson, I have to make up excuses, like ‘Mr. Wolf is on holiday’ or ‘Mr Wolf has Covid’.

You can hear that they are so used to asking ‘Is it a…’ that they sometimes say ‘Is it a 3 o’clock?’. Just repeat it correctly (‘Is it 3 o’clock? No it isn’t.’) and they will get it eventually. After catching/eating the sheep, Mr Wolf becomes the teacher and sets the clock for a new round. Of course, there can also be a Mrs. or Miss Wolf or you can change the predator to Mr. Crocodile or Miss Shark.

Recently, I have introduced a new version: ‘What’s for breakfast/lunch/dinner Mr. Wolf?’ to review food & drinks vocabulary. One step forward for each item that is on Mr Wolf’s menu. Instead of ‘Dinner time!’ they shout ‘Sheep!’. For larger groups it is probably a good idea to have two teams and let one team watch while the other plays one round. For slightly higher levels, Mr Wolf can answer: ‘It’s a quarter to 2’ or ‘It’s half past 5’.
