This circle game is meant to internalize the often dropped ‘a’ and to make students aware that, in English, it is used all the time. On top of that, it is a great energizer.
Here I am reviewing vocabulary, but usually I combine it with introducing and internalizing new vocabulary. Rather than flashcards, use real objects like I do with the cutlery.
Once they know the game, I would take myself out of the loop, so I can better listen in and hear if they do use ‘a’ and internalize the vocabulary correctly.
For larger groups, you can run two circles at the same time.
