This is an entertaining activity where students will practice asking questions in both present perfect and past simple and switch between the two tenses when necessary.

Students are eager to ask questions, because they have a good reason to do so: they want to figure out whether the person is lying or telling the truth. It is also relatively easy to have them focus on the correct form and apply self or group correction, if necessary. You simply add the following rule: the person who is IT can only answer grammatically correct questions.

This time I prepared a couple of questions myself, but next time I would give them a blank card and let them come up with their own (although I would check for appropriateness). I also used a time restraint to keep it dynamic and used our all-rise tip when I noticed not everybody was actively involved.
