This game is for higher levels only as you need a wide vocabulary to participate. It is actually from a game show that has been running on Dutch television since 1989.

This game could be played in teams, but here they are playing against the teacher (Are-you-smarter-than-the-teacher? is always a good challenge). Students have to access their active 5-word vocabulary and think about the spelling too. There is also strategy involved: you can choose words that are definitely wrong, but give you a lot of information about the letters that are or aren’t there.

Once they know the game, you can hand it over to them (‘Who wants to be the teacher?’). An excellent opportunity for stronger students to take the lead.
