What’s missing?

This is a game you can play after introducing new vocabulary. It helps them to internalize vocabulary and it gets everybody involved. Additionally, they practice the use of the article ‘the’.

Ask students to close their eyes and take away 1 flashcard. Say: ” open your eyes” and ask: ‘What’s missing?’.  After a few rounds, ask: “Who wants to be the teacher?”.

Of course, kids will try to cheat by not really closing their eyes, but no need to worry. The student playing ‘teacher’, being a kid too, knows this and will come up with a solution :).

Tip: As a last round, take away all the cards and do a quick review.
